requirements for claiming my vehicle donation as a tax deduction?
- The IRS requires that the charity you donate
to must be a registered 501(c)3 organization. Family Care Foundation
is an IRS registered 501(c)3 nonprofit.
- Family Care Foundation will issue a receipt
to you giving our tax ID number.
- You must keep this receipt with your tax records
as proof of your tax-deductible donation.
What can I donate?
We accept most cars, trucks, vans, fleet vehicles,
trailers, boats and RV's. If you have any questions about what you can

Is my vehicle donation tax deductible?
Vehicles donated on this site will benefit a non-profit
classified with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and are
tax deductible.
What do I need to do to donate my
vehicle?
We'd like the title to the vehicle. But, if you
do not have title papers call us anyway; other arrangements can sometimes
be made. You may contact us by submitting to us our Vehicle
Donation Form or by calling us toll-free at 1-800-992-2383.
Am I guaranteed that my vehicle
donation will be accepted?
We accept most cars, trucks, vans, fleet vehicles,
trailers, boats and RV's. However, exceptions may apply, depending on
factors such as the distance to our nearest towing facility, and various
other market dynamics which also affect the overall process. Should this
be the case, we will do our best to inform you as promptly as possible
so that you can make other arrangements.
Will you pick up vehicles in any
city in all 50 states?
We can pick up vehicles in every State, and in most
localities of every State.
How is the value of my vehicle donation
determined?
Thanks to new tax law (in effect as of January
2005), the IRS has taken the guesswork out of determining the value of
your vehicle. You may deduct the full price that we receive from
the sale of your vehicle. This greatly simplifies the process
for you, the donor, because you no longer have to research and come up
with an estimate of the fair market value of the vehicle. This also eliminates
the risk of you getting into trouble by overstating the value of your
deduction on your tax return. You’ll know exactly the amount you
may deduct, eliminating guesswork, and saving you both time and risk.
You will receive a receipt at the time we pick
up your vehicle, and as a follow up we will send you a second receipt
later, as soon as we sell it, letting you know the exact amount for which
it sold. That amount is your tax deduction.
If the age or condition of your vehicle is such
that your tax deduction works out to be less than $500, you may use its
fair market value instead of the sale price. For more information on determining

How will the vehicle be picked up?
We will arrange to have your vehicle towed away
at a scheduled time.
How long will it take to pick up
my vehicle?
We can normally pick up your vehicle within a few
days. If you need your vehicle picked up sooner, where feasible we will
work with you on this.
