HOPE/Mount Lebanon Project

Project No: A06
Project Managers:
Kamel Victor Bitar and Seiko Hatakeyama Bitar

As Lebanon aims at regaining socio-economic prosperity, a large portion of the population is finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the aftereffects of more than two decades of war and instability.

The breakdown of the age-old village and family systems, coupled with a major re-adjustment of the economy, have brought to the fore basic issues such as the lack of social and old-age care, costly education, along with an alarming increase in unemployment, inflation & per capita national debt.

The H.O.P.E. Project reaches some of the most needy families and individuals, children and elderly, who have no one to turn to. It is a humanitarian effort with no confessional or political agenda: it has been operational for over eight years, with two core programs covering Beirut and the surrounding mountain regions.
