There is a lack of awareness in some communities when it comes to the Puerto Rican citizens of mature age and their treatment. Many of the mature residents in the homes of the elderly that we have worked with have not received a visit from loved ones in years. Some privately run homes are in top condition, while other public homes are barely scraping by.

We have also been able to assist with emotional and moral support in different homes, by giving encouragement and a listening ear. These residents have lived full and sacrificial lives and many have been forgotten. They must live their existence wondering if they are still remembered or if they have made a difference at all.
