Project Managers: Eric and Angela Boetius

Accao Voluntario em Mocambique (AVM) was dedicated to helping the neglected and abused street children of Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique. AVM attempted to improve the quality of life for these young people with programs that housed, fed, educated, and offered comfort, stability and hope. Most of their clients were either orphans or victims of extreme poverty that made it impossible for their parent(s) to care for them any longer.

AVM staff also taught English as a second language to handicapped adults and children, thereby increasing the opportunities available to them. Other AVM ministries focused on family, health and prenatal-care issues.

Maputo, Mozambique

Marie, Alisa and Anita (daughters of Project managers Eric and Angela) help with the children at the center for 200 abandoned kids, where we also donate food each week.

Working with Mother Teresa's Sisters of Charity

For many years, AVM has worked with orphans at Mother Teresa's "Sisters of Charity" facility, which now includes an additional wing devoted entirely to people suffering with AIDS.

AIDS Awareness/Prison Outreach

AVM has been granted permission by the Ministry of Justice to conduct AIDS Awareness seminars and Bible classes with 2,500 inmates of the Central prison.
