Sonce v Srcu (“Sun in the Heart“) formerly operated in other parts of the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia) as “Balkans Relief Mission".

This Christian-based Slovene association Sonce v Scru presents institutions with educational, musical and theatrical programs focusing on moral & character building themes such as Drug Prevention.

Among Sonce v Scru activities:

Additionally, in the interest of promoting the spoken English-language, a conversational English youth club is part of their program, utilizing performing arts, vocational, & community service courses.

Background of Work in the Balkans

Among our former activities in Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina was transporting and delivering tons of humanitarian aid (clothes, shoes, food, medicine, school supplies, toys etc) to refugee camps, orphanages, hospitals and other institutions during the period of political strife that the former Yugoslavia was emerging from.

Our musical therapy programs for post-war trauma were well received by children throughout the war-torn area. In Bosnia, we presented Mine Awareness programs in coordination with SFOR, as well as Drug Prevention programs at schools, holding monthly birthday parties for groups of underprivileged children, and a computer literacy course at a Red Cross center.

Our presentations continue to be offered free of charge and so we depend on the help and generosity of concerned individuals and organizations.
