Kakelo Community Support Group

The objectives of the Kakelo Community Support Group is to create HIV/AIDS awareness, reduce transmission of the virus in the Kakelo location, and to provide health care for those, especially orphans and widows, who are already infected. To this end they provide training and counseling, conduct monthly community meetings, and have designed a home case based program to strengthen and encourage family and the surrounding community to embrace suitable support systems to take care of the infected and affected.

Community Capacity Building Initiative (CCBI)

CCBI was launched in 2001 for the purpose of providing under-served rural areas, specifically those with high incidences of AIDS, with the knowledge, skills and resources to enable them to develop, and to improve their standard of living by having better health, increased income, enhanced social status, and a cleaner environment through sustainable capacity building projects. Other areas are monitoring and evaluation of community based projects; implementation and management of projects in health, agriculture, and community development; and support programs for the underprivileged including AIDS orphans, street children and widows.

Various health programs CCBI will carry out include: Prevention and management of STI/HIV/AIDS; Safe motherhood initiative; Child survival; Promotion of primary health care and family planning.

CCBI’s agriculture and community welfare programs include: appraisal; project design, monitoring and evaluation; and training—with the overall objective of eradicating poverty.
