Spreading like a bush-fire! Years ago, as we were sitting on the floor of our first flat in Namibia, we felt inspired with the idea of beginning a correspondence course for Bible enthusiasts, and so the Correspondent Bible Study Course, or CBSC, was born. The CBSC literally spread like a bush-fire and from the small and humble beginnings has grown to reach hundreds of people in 5 neighboring African countries! The course covers 10 topics: Salvation, The Word of God, Jesus Christ the Son of God, The End Time, Witnessing, Prayer, Fear Not, Giving, How To Find the Will of God and Discipleship.
College and university students are the ones who seem most interested; next are prisoners, then come people from various other walks of life including businessmen, nurses, policeman, security workers, office workers, pastors, church groups, farmers and soldiers. Following is a cross-section of the type of letters we get testifying how this course is changing peoples' lives: Elana, 25, (Namibia): "I hereby wish to thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate in the Correspondent Bible Study Course. I cannot thank you enough for changing my life with your books and the Bible Course. You've reached out to me when I needed it the most and I really appreciate that. You made me realize, that there is no other way, but to follow Him!" Joseph, 46 (Zambia): "I am pleased, because the Word of God, which I have learned from your school has taken me to another level of glory. I know the will of God in my life better. Frankly speaking, I didn't even know the Word of God, but now I am able to explain the Bible better to others." Karl, 37, (prisoner); "Your Bible course is spiritually building for me. I long to follow the verses that you provide for me. This place here is the home of evil. Please, stay in touch with me. I love you and the comforting Words that you give me support me." John, 23, (son of Karl, above); "I am very interested with The Correspondent Bible Study Course. My Dad, who is in prison, is now a born again Christian. I also want to follow this way by studying the Bible." James, 29, (Namibian soldier); "Thank you for you letter and encouraging me with proceeding with my Bible course. I would like to inform you that I was in Congo and I know, that your prayers saved my life!" John, (prisoner, Windhoek Prison); "I am very happy and well in Christ and have now completed the Correspondent Bible Study Course! I would like to thank you for Diploma and two books, which are very valuable treasures to me. I don't want to stop studying the Word. I need to study more and more during the four years that are in front of me. I have no relatives to come and visit me, so every letter of the Bible study makes me feel like someone is visiting me. I thank you!" Chad, 24, (university student, Zambia); "I am pleased to inform you, that I have been impressed by this touching volume on Giving. Once again I would like to pass on to you my warmest thanks for the visit you paid me. It has really been an encouragement to me in terms of my need of personally study God's Word." Gersham, (pastor); "We got a copy of your beautiful tracts. Please, kindly send us 5000 copies. These will be given out to our brothers and sisters and members of the public as a testimony to the masses about the true meaning of Christianity." Almeida, 20, (Namibia): "Thank you very much for feeding me the Word of God. I am so full of it now. I hope, that God will help me to be His great follower."
Recently I went outside [left the prison compound] for an eye check up at the eye hospital. I took some of the tracts you sent me and I distributed them to the patients I met at the hospital, to the nurse who was checking my eyes and different hospital staff. While I was sitting in the queue I gave a tract to a young man not far from me. He took the tract from me and started to read it and was also looking at me in an investigative manner. Suddenly he came up to me and sat closer and said, It is ok, and then said my native Herero name, which is Tsimbinae. Then to my surprise he told me that he knows me and that he was very young when I came to prison many years ago. What is important is that this man knew my past life and now he was so
very surprised by the change he saw in me, that Jesus Christ brought to
my life. As he kept on looking at me, I sensed that he could hardly believe
the change he saw in me, comparing what he saw today to what I was like
in my past life.
