Fazendo do Mundo Um Lugar Melhor

Project Managers Owen and Sidsel Thomas have managed Fazendo do Mundo Um Lugar Melhor (the English translation being "Making The World a Better Place") projects in Brasilia, DF and its surrounding satellite cities since 1998.
Partnering with local affiliates and dedicated volunteers, they work to provide hands-on assistance, targeted training programs as well as tangible resources for underprivileged children and adults in low-income areas.
Current projects include:
- Micro-enterprise and business entrepreneurship program
- Programs at a home for abandoned children
- Enrichment classes for rural school children
- Hospital visitation with Laughter Therapy

Partnering with the “PROOMNIA” association, Fazendo do Mundo Um Lugar Melhor (FMULM) offers a dynamic economic empowerment program, including lectures, workshops, mentoring and micro-lending to provide a bridge between technical skills and successful business startups for aspiring entrepreneurs from low-income areas.
The “Lar Menino Jesus” houses children who were either removed from abusive homes by a court order, or were abandoned by their parents. Fazendo do Mundo Um Lugar Melhor (FMULM) makes regular visits bringing food, clothing and shoes and hosting special events. Most of all they offer personal attention and love to these needy children.
Children at an underprivileged elementary school in the outskirts of Brasilia receive semi-weekly English language and dance classes from FMULM staff, which the school would not have been otherwise able to provide.
