This branch of vocational studies includes courses to train nurse’s aides, those who care for the elderly, as well as care for the ill and infirm. The courses provide training for employment in a senior citizen’s retirement center, hospice, or personal residence. Subjects covered include nutrition, administration of medication, basic first aid, safety and hygiene, and other comfort and care practices.  

Due to the country’s large aging population, this demographic has drastically increased demand for these skill sets, and thus FEDES graduates from this course have achieved the highest employment rate of all FEDES graduates.

Many times, the families of the elderly can’t afford assisted living or retirement home for their loved ones so these courses offer them the skill sets to appropriately care for their senior citizens at home.

The young students also receive computer, job competency, and personal development classes, as well as a short internship in a senior citizen’s home to gain work experience.

Older adult students receive a subsidy on food, transport, or tools for their trade such as blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, and other basic medical care supplies, as well as personal development classes to help them present themselves properly to prospective employers, learn basic money management, etc. FEDES also has an employment placement program to help graduates find long term jobs.
