The Love in Action team has been working in the Guadalajara area since 1995, running a Free Day Care Center, as well as distributing goods and services to the poor and are being actively involved in missionary outreach. Throughout the year, Love in Action organizes several special events. One includes a Christmas Banquet for the Poor, held in Morelos Park in downtown Guadalajara where over 3,000 poor and homeless of all ages are supplied with a special Christmas meal. Last year over 30,000 Christmas toys were also distributed amongst the children who attended. Additionally special events are held on Children's Day.

Free Medical Clinic, Kitchen, and Day Care

Love in Action, a Mexico-based FCF project focusing on the needs of the poor in Guadalajara, provides the following free services: a medical clinic, kitchen, and day care center.

The medical clinic is operated year round and attends to the medical needs of over 100 people monthly. $81,000 in medicines and medical attention was provided to 430 needy families.

Additionally, each month approximately three tons of food and other needs are collected from the local business community and distributed to between 150-200 needy families. Likewise 4.5 tons of milk is distributed to over 1,000 children. Hot meals are also made available via a year-round free kitchen.

We also provide childcare and family education classes to local mothers, plus Bible orientation classes to over 200 mothers and teenagers each month. Additionally we provide regular education to 36 pre-schoolers.

Christmas Banquet

Every year, on December 25th, we host a Christmas Banquet for 3000 poor people to whom Christmas would otherwise be just another day trying to scrounge enough food to eat, and for whom a nice Christmas dinner would otherwise be out of the question. We invite them to a park to enjoy a meal of barbequed chicken and meat, beans, rice, tortillas, vegetable salad, bread, and beverages, while being entertained by musicians.

This special meal is not the usual soup-kitchen menu, but a delicious and nutritious all-you-can-eat chicken dinner prepared by three of the city’s top restaurants. We serve up close to one ton of chicken, beans, rice, tortillas and drinks to the multitude of families gathered together for this annual charitable happening.

Local television, covering the event, interviewed a wheelchair-bound beneficiary of a free meal, who was heard to comment: "It is not only the food, or the drinks or the entertainment; it is the love that you feel from these people!" For the members of Love In Action here in Guadalajara, this comment meant that we are achieving our goal.

Then on January 6th “King's Day”, when toys are traditionally given to Mexican children, we distribute upwards of 30,000 toys to poor children who normally never receive a toy all year long, for either their birthdays or Christmas. It is such a joy to see their expectant little faces light up with a smile of sincere appreciation when receiving their toys, and we feel privileged to be the ones to be able to hand these to them.
