Jazz Artist's Band Plays Charity Gig for Ton-a-Month Club

(Seoul, Korea)

The popular nightspot, JR BLUE, in downtown Seoul was the site for William Washington's farewell weekend of jazz performances before returning to the US. In cooperation with East Promotions and the TownMax.com Website, Washington's band dedicated the evening of July 14th to helping North Korean children suffering from malnutrition and the debilitating effects of 5 years of famine conditions in that country.

The designated charity organization to assist the North Korean children was the Ton-a-Month Club. Founder and director, Tim Peters, was on hand throughout the evening with his son and daughter to explain his project, meet many visiting friends and newcomers as well as to give an occasional pitch, urging the audience to make full use of the unique W10, 000 coupons to help the needy. Peters reported that the evening was a booming success and that he was deeply touched by the generosity of the club's guests, Washington and his band, the club owners, Mr. and Mrs. Park, and East Promotion's hardworking staff.

A number of JR Blue's regular customers were heard to comment to Peters that Friday's crowd seemed uncharacteristically large. Peters just smiled and in deference to the booming speakers nearby, pointed heavenward in way of explanation.
