Vision for Africa Eye Care

The aim of Vision for Africa is to provide, free-of-charge, much needed eye care for disadvantaged children in local area primary schools. Each week, screening clinics are held in schools where each student is screened for overall vision problems and eye diseases.

The needy cases identified from the screening sessions-- which is about 8% overall-- are then scheduled an appointment with an optometrist where they receive a full eye examination and treatment free of charge.

The students are then fitted with sponsored glasses when needed, facilitating their ongoing education. Most of these children have struggled in school simply because of having poor eye sight and not being able to see the blackboard. This is due to them not being able to afford an eye test and glasses.

Some children that Vision for Africa treats have suffered from eye diseases such as Glaucoma and Trachoma, which had the potential to cause total blindness within several years had we not been there to help them.

We are elated that so many children have had the opportunity to move on with their lives and their education, and are excelling in their grades. Please help us to help even more.
