FCF partner initiative spawns indigenous Russian work
Astrakhan Initiative for Minors (AIM), Russia

Astrakhan Initiative for Minors (AIM) has, for the past few years, conducted classes and seminars for displaced Russian youth in Astrakhan, and provided free medical help courtesy of volunteer doctors and staff. Base of operations for their activities is a property that they were given the use of and subsequently renovated into a viable youth center.

The administration of this center for the care of street children has been turned over to a Russian organization, with AIM remaining involved in an advisory capacity. This is in keeping with an important dynamic of AIM operational philosophy--that of spearheading the development of such projects and once established, to turn over the day-to-day operations to local organizations, thus insuring the indigenous nature of the project as well as providing local employment opportunities and resources.

AIM is now laying the groundwork for a new project in the Ukraine whose goal is to benefit needy youth there.
