Children Enjoy Newly Equipped Activity Center
Los Andes Mission, Trujillo, Peru

Thanks to a grant from Family Care Foundation, Los Andes Mission has been able to better equip the community center they operate outside Trujillo, Peru with games and other recreational pastimes for the local children in this destitute neighborhood. The center has been greatly enhanced by the addition of a ping pong table, foosball game, table top soccer table, as well as a swing and slide set, and soccer and volley balls for outdoor entertainment.

What a joy it is to see the children delight in engaging in so many fun activities that are unavailable elsewhere in the community.

But it’s not just fun and games at the Los Andes Mission community center! Also offered are meals, food and clothing, medical and educational aid, personal counseling, English classes, handicraft and culinary classes, and a horticulture program. Special celebrations for children and parents, as well as birthday parties for the youngsters, are also a common occurrence.

Another source of inspiration for the residents of Trujillo has been the various educational books, DVD’s, and CD’s that have been made available to these needy children and families, again thanks to a FCF grant.

To see the happy expressions on the children’s faces as the community center expands and progresses is the greatest reward anyone could ask for.
