In late 2017, Espoir Congo received an invitation from the UN agency, the World Family Organization (WFO), to participate in their 70th anniversary celebration held at the United Nations in Geneva on December 14th and 15th, 2017, where Espoir Congo was presented with an award by the President of the agency, Dr. Deisi Kusztra.
To explain briefly about the WFO, it has adopted 17 global goals for sustainable development, including: No poverty; zero hunger; good health and well-being; quality education; gender equality; clean water and sanitation; affordable and clean energy; decent work and economic growth; industry, innovation and infrastructure; reduced inequalities; sustainable cities and communities.
Clotilde Volpe represented Espoir Congo at the WFO, and her presentation highlighted the implementation of eight of these goals for sustainable development through its work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The President of the WFO subsequently honored Espoir Congo with an award in recognition of their contributions.
The WFO’s slogan for this year is “Not one family left behind”, and Espoir Congo is proud to share such goals with this prestigious organization, and remains committed to continuing to do its very best to implement them throughout its programs, to better the lives of families in the DRC.
