All of Cadanino’s programs have a core focus of equipping the children with skills that will benefit them for life and improve their chances of finding gainful employment and becoming positive contributing members of society. Basic microenterprise skills are incorporated into each of the vocational programs of woodworking, engineering and culinary arts, teaching the students to design, create, market and sell their products.
English language classes and IT training are essential skills to help these at-risk youth succeed in today’s competitive job market, while Christian studies and counselling help to build confidence, character, and courage in spite of obstacles.
Through partnerships arranged with local businesses or other service organizations, students are provided with opportunities to receive job training and employment when they graduate from the orphanage. The two young adults pictured below (left) with Project Manager Tim Martiny, are former orphanage graduates that Cadanino began working with over 10 years ago. Sandra, on the right is now a teacher at the Precious Moment’s school, and Eduardo, on the left, provides computer training for the kids at that same school. Both are making a profound difference in the lives of many other orphans and helping give them a chance to rise above their circumstances through education and training.
Cadanino has successfully hosted several intercultural sports camps, with visiting groups from the US. This provides underprivileged children, who live in orphanages or in slum areas, with opportunities to develop new sporting skills, build confidence, have fun, and interact with and learn about other cultures.
